My top 5 Central West Wedding Venues

Wedding Venues, making the decision of where to get married and have your reception can be one of the toughest decisions to make. There’s so many alternatives to weigh up; Cost, Amount of Guests, Style of the Wedding and of course location.

Having shot a whole bunch of weddings at a whole bunch of venues, particularly here in the Central West where I started my career, I figured I’d compile a list of my favourite central West Wedding Venues.

*disclaimer, these venues have no say or control over this blog post, no-one has paid to be featured here, these are simply my thoughts on my preferred style and locations in the Central West #NOHATE

NUMBER FIVE - HILLANDALE GARDEN & NURSERY, YETHOLME

Hillandale Garden & Nursery is located just outside of Bathurst in Yetholme NSW.

Whilst not technically a ‘Wedding Venue’ it is a stunning property and has some of the most spectacular Gardens to wander and take some happy wedding snaps in.

The owners are wonderful people and are in the process of building their ‘Chapel’ for your special ceremony but i can guarantee there’s plenty of outdoor ceremony options, and of course why not throw a Marquee up for your reception.

This beautiful garden will not disappoint as a wedding venue.

There are even some sneaky hideaway spots for beautiful First Look moments.

NUMBER FOUR - RACINE RESTAURANT, ORANGE NSW

Racine Restaurant is located a short trip out of Orange NSW.

Racine is well known within the region for its beautiful restaurant and bakery in town with some delicious food and pastry on offer. The wedding venue is attached to the restaurant and only moments away from Lake Canobolas. This means whilst having a variety of locations on site for photos, there is unlimited opportunity surrounding the venues too.

the reception hall of Racine has a beautiful rustic charm to it with raw concrete walls, exposed beams and wooden floors, it has a rustic and raw charm to it.

The venue can be styled however you please and has indoor outdoor options also. The indoor size of the venue may be a limiting factor and if you find yourself planning a large wedding maybe go and see the space before locking it in.

I’ve found when styled with native flowers and antique furniture, the venues really fits that boutique country vibe.

NUMBER THREE - SECLUSIONS, BLUE MOUNTAINS NSW

By far one of the best features of Seclusions Blue Mountains is its location.

The venue is Located just outside of Lake Lyell, between Bathurst and Lithgow. And due to it’s location, the backdrop of the stunning Blue Mountains, is breathtaking and is sure to have all your guests hashtagging and instagramming wherever they can get the chance.

Seclusions has unique features such as on site accomodation which is handy for groom and bridal prep, but also close family members with a sore head after a night of partying. Another feature of seclusions that can be off putting or a blessing in disguise is they do not cater,  but have a fully functioning caterers kitchen allowing you to bring whoever and whatever food you so desire for your wedding.

By far one of my favourite features of this venue is arguably the wildlife, they have alpacas and Highland cows, which of course is a hit for all the guests, but also allows for a fun experience and photos for you the bide and groom. They allow you the opportunity to get as close as you can and even sometimes feed the wildlife for a perfect photo op.

NUMBER TWO - BOXGROVE, BATHURST NSW

BoxGrove is a short three hour drive from Sydney and nails that upper class Sydney market that are looking for an escape for the weekend wedding. BoxGrove is a stunning venue with a huge variety of ceremony locations, but the most popular being ‘the deck’ that over looks the vast paddocks behind it.

BoxGrove is unique in its offerings of a brand new barn house for your reception which is a photographers dream, bright white walls and ceilings allowing beautifully lit photos (makes you and your guests look good.)

BoxGrove also offers accomodation for family members or prep locations for the bride, a salon is attached to the property so why not get your hair and makeup done at the same spot, as well as the offering of adding on breakfast and the all essential Sunday morning post hangover coffee from Mobar Vintage, all can be added to your package.

By far the staff at BoxGrove make the venue something special, catering for your every need every step of the way, from helping set up and organise rehearsals, through to ensuring you safely make your way down the back for some beautiful photos in the grove.

NUMBER ONE - WALDARA FARM, OBERON NSW

Waldara Farm is by far one of my favourite Central West Wedding venues, I love the rustic country farm styling, I love the locations and variety for photos and of course I love the convenience of having two large houses available for Bridal prep and Groom prep.

Waldara farm also boasts something unique that I find a beautiful touch, being located outside of Oberon NSW it has very little if any phone reception which I find beautiful.

These days weddings are becoming an event to be documented and spread across social media and often I find guests enthralled in their phones as opposed to immersed in the moment. Having no phone reception add an extra bit of ‘off the grid’ to your wedding forcing your guests to be there in the moment.

The venue itself offers a number of ceremony spots, with a beautiful old sheering shed as a wet weather option which is always an added bonus. there is a variety of locations for photos around the property only limited by your time.

The staff there are very helpful and offer a range of services, there’s access to the tennis court a hot tub and of course stunning views.

I highly recommend checking out Waldara Farm for your wedding.

BONUS TIP - YOUR PROPERTY

There’s absolutely nothing wrong with throwing a huge party on your own property. Perhaps it’s a special family property that’d been in the family for generations, perhaps it’s a friends farm.

The one rule I tell all my couples is it’s your wedding, do what you like.

Having your reception on a property can be beautiful, it allows you to completely customise the look, it allows you to not have to worry about noise restrictions and and neighbours and it certainly allows you to add a personal touch to your wedding day.

Do take into consideration however extra fees that could come with this, marquee hire, catering, travel costs for vendors, ease of access for guests and of course the amount of work you’ll need to put into setting up and packing down.

All of these wedding venues are stunning, and of course there’s plenty of other options around The Central West, the State and the Country, perhaps you even want to take your wedding International. There is a wedding venue out there to suit you and your style, these are simply a few of my favourites.
